This page is for anyone who needs information on depression or bipolar disorder (manic depression), including people with these illnesses and their loved ones. Today there is much information and treatment available for depression, bipolar disorder, and other mental illnesses, yet many people do not seek treatment due to the stigma surrounding the illness or a lack of knowledge of treatment.

With this page I hope to help everyone in starting to understand these diseases and treatments. There are no "magic bullets" which cure depression, but there are drugs which do work for most people with mood disorder.  In addition to medication, it is recommended that a patient attend psychotherapy. This page is for information only (and is often the opinion of untrained people with the disease) and should not take the place of a qualified psychiatrist or psychotherapist. Much of the information on this site is the experience of individuals; your experience will vary.

Depression is an illness, not a state of mind or a weakness.

Please seek help
